Counties Manukau Badminton Association (CMBA) is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes and supports the development of Badminton within the South Auckland region. CMBA represents a variety of badminton clubs as well as players and is affiliated with Badminton New Zealand. We are trusted in developing Badminton and also improving playing abilities through various programmes and events. Our involvement includes supporting the development of Badminton by working with individuals, schools, and various organisations.

We currently have two elected and two appointed board member positions open and are seeking candidates with a strong connection with sport and a strong understanding of what drives our sporting communities. We are an inclusive organisation seeking for the right people to join the Counties Manukau Badminton Association’s board to guide us in fulfilling its strategic plan. Our board members play a key role in governing the future of badminton in the region from the community level through to the elite level.

We are particularly seeking the following skills, experience, and/or abilities:

  • Make sensible, astute recommendations and business decisions.
  • Financial, commercial, and business acumen.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the sport of badminton, sports sector, or not-for-profit sector.
  • Governance or senior leadership experience particularly in the context of financial and risk, policy, or building construction frameworks.
  • Connectivity with sponsors and grassroots funding organisations.

We invite individuals who are interested to volunteer in the areas of sport development by coordinating, implementing and delivering CMBA programmes at various levels. The role will be involved in coaching, marketing, administration, and events management. You will only need general computer skills and a genuine interest for sport development as training will be provided. This is a volunteer role that is highly suited for those seeking to start a career in sport management or administration. The relevant training and support will be provided to suitable candidates. There is potential for the role to grow into paid part-time and full time positions within the organization.
